A solar system is something I have always wanted but after talking with over 5 different companies about my options I was left kicking a tire. I cannot afford the $30,000 needed to be totally off the grid or even the $25,000 needed simply to cool and heat my house. Today however is different as I stumbled upon something known as the Climate Well that has the ability to heat and cool a home 24 hours a day at an affordable price.
When looking at the cost of a solar system there are the high costs of the deep cycle batteries and the expensive solar panels. Another overlooked cost is the conversion of the solar energy into electricity. The alternative is to utilize the radiant energy created to cool and heat the house.
By utilizing radiant energy you have more of a one to one energy trade. You can further reduce the cost of a solar system by utilizing this radiant energy to cool your home rather than always converting and storing it as electricity.
Most solar system take 30 - 40 years to pay off. With the new thin film solar panels you get them for a cheaper price but it takes more of them to create energy. Once the energy is created it must be converted and stores in some way unless you plan to send it back on the grid in a co-generation setup.
By sending on the grid you get paid for this electricity which gives you bill credit. Even with bill credits you still have 30 years to see that investment break even. The problem is that the break even does not consider interest, inflation and other things.
There are many different setups when it comes to solar because the technology is very flexible. An even more flexible option is with solar and the use of radiant energy from the sun.
Rather than just converting sun energy to electricity where it sits in a deep cycle battery you can use that energy to heat and cool. The one to one energy trade with radiant energy drastically reduces the cost of a solar system.
Finally a radiant energy using system is the best way to go with solar. A home that can be cooled or heated with radiant heat on demand will offer a solution you cannot find anywhere else.
The Climate Well technology makes this all work through a process that heats water and heats salt and sends this energy as needed while storing excess. More and more countries are adopting this which promises an off the grid future living for people of earth.
We write about Solar Energy and other technology that may create a brighter planet. Our concern is that people see the advanced science that exist and buy them so they have market acceptance. If solar users don't offer advice about solar power plants no one will know.
