The Purpose And Installation Of Solar Panels

by Keith Moore

Solar panels are meant to transform energy, the light energy is converted into electric energy that will be used for powering different equipment. One of the smallest examples of such a device is found in the hand calculators that are solar-powered. The functioning principle is the same as the one of a space telescope, for instance.

These pieces of electronic technology work like batteries in a way, as they can provide power to almost any electric or electronic device. They use the most efficient and powerful light source: the sun. They are the power source for different satellites placed on the orbit of planet earth.

Multiple power cells form an array, which is another name for a panel. All the cells in an array are meant to work together. The light may hit the cells directly, case in which a lot of power is generated. If the light is weak, the power will also be weak. The cells can lose their original state because of occasional weather degradation. The ultraviolet waves from the sun can be as well bad for them in time.

Chemical batteries can be used for keeping the energy, but there is no need for doing this. Most of the time, just the needed power is produced. Storing the energy is a rare thing to do.

For a very good efficiency, the cells have to be deployed on roofs. The arrays can also be independent facilities. The light of the sun has to fall directly on the arrays in order to profit the most from the energy received.
The correct installation of the array is in strict relation with the sun position on specific moments in time during one year. The biggest effects are obtained only if the sun light hits the cells directly. Objects that can be obstacles will be eliminated. If any object is casting a shadow on the array, it is a bad thing as the light will be diminished.

In normal conditions, the panels can be installed using mounts. They are of 3 types: pole mounts (they have a metal rack and a rail unit), roof-ground mounts (these are good for larger arrays) and flush mounts (they have the lowest price and they are very simple).

The more cells are bought, the less involvement people will have with the electrical energy provider from the local area. The power meter will show less progress at every new array installed until it will not show any progress. From this moment the user has a fully ecological system when it comes to electricity.

For people who search for better ways of creating electrical energy for their home, solar panels are exactly what they are looking for. They are not only an independent way of having electricity in the house, but also an ecological system. The futuristic appearance of the arrays will be good for people who also want a modern look for their house. Because it is a way of generating power at home, it will save a lot of money to the user as will not depend on the electrical bills anymore.

Solar panels for homes have become much more popular in recent years, largely due to government subsidies.
