The Use of Solar Systems for Rv Trips

by Rob Carlton

Solar power is something more and more Rvers are looking into. It is perfect for their needs because it is portable, easy to get and works great to meet their needs. Instead of having to search around for a park that offers electrical hook ups, a RVer can simply stay wherever and use their own solar energy. It can save a lot of time and money.

No Limits

Rvs use battery power for many things. Power helps to make the RV more like home by providing conveniences like lighting. However, these batteries need charged because they do not last forever. To recharge a RVer has to hook up to an electrical source. However, with a solar power system there is no need to hook up to a power source because the power source travels with you. Using a solar system is a great idea because they are easy to use, clean and cheap. Once you install and pay for the system, it is free to use. That can save quite a bit of money because you will not have to pay for the electrical hook ups at parks.

Perks

As mentioned, solar systems have many advantages. One is how quite they are. Many people seeking portable power solutions use generators, which are very loud, not to mention polluting. With a solar system you get peace and quiet and no pollution. Also a solar system produces DC energy which is optimal for charging a battery, so it will actually prolong the battery life. They are also safe and reliable. As long as they get enough exposure to sunlight they should be adequate at handling charging needs. Above all, they offer freedom. You can stay wherever you want to and not be limited to staying only where you can get an electrical hook up.

How They Work

Solar systems are composed of a solar panel that captures the sun energy, a charge controller which allows for adjustment of energy flow and a wiring system to hook the solar system to the battery. They work great because they are mounted on the RV's roof, which is perfect for capturing energy. They are rather straightforward to install and hook up and should not pose any major problems for the average RVer.
Setting your RV up with a solar system is good for you and good for the environment.

It brings a whole new meaning of freedom to RVing. It allows you to really get out there and travel wherever you want to.
