Your Home Can Be Environmentally Friendly

by Rajiv Kapur

Recently, I read something in the paper about some builders becoming environmentally friendly in the way they build buildings. This caused me think about how we can be environmentally friendly in our houses as well as in its building. A claim to be following a green way of life cannot be made by most of us. I suppose this is due to the fact that it's quite expensive to modify everything in your home as you have to ensure everything is environmentally friendly.

When it comes to why we opt to live greener, well, that is based on people's circumstances. Allergic reactions of a member of the family may mean that decisions have to be made. But going green can be a good deal of hassle, so why is it that people still do it?

Well, we can surely cross out money as becoming environmentally friendly normally ends up costing more money, not less. Just a consciousness of a few of the chemical substances that are found in homes can be a good enough reason to choose to go green.

It's a known fact that vinyl linoleum really releases toxic gases and of course this isn't good for the Earth or your health! Gas is not emitted when it is merely linoleum but it is tough to ;ocate by itself. Chemicals used in many household products will result in the release of harmful gas. Try looking around, either in supermarkets or online, for earth friendly products to exchange for regular ones.

One more great way of doing your bit for the Earth is to recycle household waste. That's things like bottles that are plastic, metal cans and newspapers. Environmental concerns are now important in local areas so you can find information on how to recycle.

Simply get some containers to place your aluminum, plastic and paper products in and then toss them in recycling centres or with the special bags your council provides. It is possible to be more environmentally friendly if your home needs to be decorated.

Try to avoid paints that have VOCs, which are volatile organic compounds. A good paint to use is latex paint as it doesn't release any dangerous chemicals.

To be truly earth friendly, there are numerous household goods you could check out. The selections for more environmentally friendly living are now available from many of the main product makers. With less water consumption, you can get an eco friendly dish washer or clothes washer.

We all are interested to reduce our water bills and a toilet can also be made to use less water. How about an environmentally friendly oven or other household electrical items. Star ratings show how eco friendly a home appliance is.

So while there may be some costs at first and inconvenience, the benefits of an earth friendly house can eventually be better well being and along with a healthier planet, your bills will start to decline.
